Play - Recreate the Old Magic

One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is to learn not to take ourselves and life so seriously.  Being a responsible adult is important, but don’t forget that you are much more than that. Slowing down, taking a break from work, and having fun is good for your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health.  Enjoying life is just as essential to your well -being as paying your bills on time and taking out the trash.

Play and creative expression is an important aspect of life that a lot of us forget as we get older, and earthly responsibilities can literally run our lives if we let them.  Do you remember the fun you had as a child playing dress up or making roads in the dirt with your hot wheels cars?  Everything seemed magical to you then didn’t it? Do you ever wonder where that sparkle went?  Think back to what you liked to do when you were a child and revisit the feeling of wonder and how it felt to make believe.

If you were good at drawing, painting, sewing, writing, or any other creative outlet; you came into this world with your sense of play and imagination intact.   What made you stop doing the things you loved? Was it feelings of inadequacy, or well- meaning parents, teachers, or friends?  Whatever it was, that hidden spark of creative genius is waiting to be tapped again.

Take some time to look at recreating the sense of enchantment and delight you may have left behind years ago.   I promise your life can quickly become magical again.
